Local move within California

Don't Use!

I made a quick decision to hire All State Movers from Norcross, Georgia to move my belongings from Florida to California because they were the only company who could come on the first of this year—the only day I was in Orlando, FL where my belongings were being moved from. Unfortunately, they did not show up as promised. I had a friend meet them on the 2nd when their driver finally arrived. As of today---June 29, 2018--- I still do not have my belongings. I’ve called and emailed the moving company numerous times throughout the past few months to try and find out where my stuff was located only to receive discrepancies in stories from managers, ignored/dropped phone calls, ignored e-mails, etc. I was finally told this May that their truck was stolen in Miami and had my belongings in it. When I inquired about who they were insured by to file a claim I got the go around from All State Movers again. I was given a policy that expired (can provide an email stating non insured from insurance company). I immediately contacted them again and two weeks later was give a second company to call (CAF CAP). At this point, they are trying to pay me for the weight of my furniture/stuff which I am not too happy about due to the utter devaluation—.60 per pound. However, the most heartbreaking, is that I had pictures of my deceased father who died when I was 4 years old that I will never see again---the only keepsakes I had of him.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the moving company has my furniture/stuff in some warehouse in Miami. Or, if they have pulled this before on someone else due to the lack of professionalism, discrepancies within their stories as to where my belongings were and failure to tell me about their "missing truck" until months later after relentlessly calling them on a regular bases. Unfortunate. It's a shame that people would try to pull potential scandals like this across state lines, making things very difficult to even report to authorizes. Further, that they don’t understand the inflicted harm they are causing my taking items that cannot be replaced.

Long-distance move from Powder Springs, GA to Ocala, FL

Allstate Movers, Norcrose ga Scam Alert!!

We are Senior Citezens who have been scammed. Below is a letter I emailed them:

This is a formal complaint about Allstate Movers unethical, unprofessional and illegal actions. Our item count was grossly misstated at 100 items over count. Our shipment looked like it was moved around a lot and damaged, broken items and some are Missing completely. ALLSTATE MOVERS performed the classic bait and switch by estimating low and overcharging before delivery holding our items hostage until we paid. They gave us deceitful measurements, Misleading quote and overinflated charges. We never received “ a Ready to move brochure” from them either. I called the FMCSA and they said I could file a formal complaint after I received my items. I will be doing this if I don’t get a refund of $2500.

I scheduled our move in January 2018 —two months prior to March 8, 2018 from Powder Springs GA to Ocala Florida. I specifically requested an early morning time due to real estate closing on house that day. My delivery date was scheduled 48 hrs later on March 10. I was assured this would happen smoothly by Jasmine your sales rep. Many days prior to pick up I emailed her a few times to go over the estimate date time and item list. She assured me the price would not go higher than the binding quote I authorized of $2225. I have emails to prove this. - none of this happened as promised. - the bait.

We packed all our boxes and crates securely. Wow On March 7th evening we received a call from Alex saying the movers will be just a little late. Probably 11 or 12 noon. I was upset because I requested a MORNING pick up. Then on March 8Th. No one showed up at 12. I called and spoke to Eric who gave me the drivers cell phone. I called and spoke to Kevin who said they were in Savannah and would get to me in Powder Springs 3 or 4. (It takes 6 hrs from Savanah to Powder Springs). After frantic calls to the office and emails to Jasmine, Kevin showed up at 7:30pm with two men.

While the guys started wrapping furniture he had me sign a bunch of blank documents and said he would fill the top portion when complete. We agreed to additional three woredrobe boxes for soft bagged and a few extra last minute odd shaped items and agreed to pay additional charges. AS stated in original quote, the movers packed the TV, printer, floor lamp, two mirrors and two paintings and all furniture listed in contract. We were not given a final list of items as customarily done.

Now the switch.

After 2 & half hours of loading the 26 ft (small) truck, Kevin handed us a bill of lading that superseded the original quote. The terminology was also different. He changed the terms based on cubic feet and not item list. He said that we had 100 more items than expected and that would calculate a higher price, even higher than originally quoted. His 26 ft truck was filled to the brim. The new bill of lading showed a measurement of 1900 cubic feet at almost triple the cost of original quote. We could not verify this at 10pm at night. We counted 157 items in total Before the move. This was 23 more items over the 133 items listed on contract but we were willing to pay for this. This doesn’t constitute the extra 600 cubic feet. He LIED to us and you.

It was 10pm and we were looking at a 5 hr drive to our destination 440 miles away. The office was closed at 10pm and we could not dispute at this time. So we paid under duress. The check cleared the next day. We were frantic so we paid Kevin $2818, $600 over original estimate of $2,225 .

After March 10, our 1st available delivery date, we received no calls telling us when our stuff would arrive in Ocala Florida. We waited and emailed and called but no one gave us a straight answer.

So I called and I spoke to Deseray at your office who said it may take a few more days and my stuff was in Atlanta warehouse and have patience. We waited 8 days and the delivery guy called on Saturday evening that he was coming on Sunday. March 18 to deliver. I said I had descrepancy with bill but he could not unload until I paid with Money gram. So we paid.

The foreman showed me a bill of lading which has a 162 count of items and 1300 cubic feet. He laughed when I showed him the bill of lading showing 1900 cubic ft. He called John to tell him To check the numbers because it was a big difference and must be a mistake. According to Kevin, we are either missing 105 items or 600 cubic feet of items. Either way this is a major problem. John ignored this piece of information from the pick up guys.

DAMEGES
I have unwrapped each item and found a horror inside all my boxes. Pics are attached of the damaged boxes and items.
Broken dishes ,glasses, stoneware
George Foreman grill broken handle

MISSING ITEMS
A Ladder
A Kirby vacuum
A medium dize Box of serving platters
A blue large plastic container of Waterford Chrystal stemware 12 glasses
A medium box of bowls and dishes
One wordrobe box filled with various items
(Laptop. iPad, decorative pillows and memorabilia)
Quilts
You are missing 41 stickers. The missing numbers jump around from 6 to 12, 17 to 24, 25
to 37, 45 to 49, 59 to 63, 75 to 78, 83 to 90, 96 to 116, and skips every other one and only goes up to 161. See pic.

Finally delivery came on Sunday March 18, 2018.
8 days after expected delivery. We not only had to wait 8 hours on pick up but were told I needed patience on delivery. Why was my stuff even taken off the original truck if it was coming in 48 hours. It’s called the bait and switch.

Issues:
1.
Your bill of lading was incorrect.
The delivery driver said my stuff was 1300 cf. Why did Kevin grossly miscalculate this measurement to 1900cf and blatantly Mis count the items? That’s 600cf than actual. At 10pm where could we find a weigh station to verify this!

2. Before they started to unload we took a picture of our items still strapped inside the truck. The items on the truck looked crushed together.

We used expensive moving boxes and bubble wrap and lots of stuffing and tape for each box to protect our valuable items. We wrapped each glass and dish three times using proper boxes. What did you do to these boxes in two days??

We are asking for a refund of $2500 or we will file charges against you in s court of law. We will go to the BBB as well as the FMCSA TO Discredit your license.
